Excavating the Rising Star
Ash is currently in the midst of a three week workshop for her newest immersive documentary play, Excavating the Rising Star. In 2020, Ash interviewed eight of the nine female archaeologists that excavated a new hominid species discovered in South Africa in 2013. From those transcripts, she will devise a script that will immerse audiences into the external experiences and inner lives of these amazing women. This project has the interest of the American Museum of Natural History, with support from A.R.T. New York and the Emerson Theater Collaborative.
Best Immersive Theatrical Experience
Ash’s first immersive docudrama, Nellie and the Women of Blackwell, received Broadway World’s “Best Immersive/Theatrical Experience Off-Off-Broadway” award for the 2020-2021 season!
True Nature of All Being
Ash will be directing the Emerson Theater Collaborative’s upcoming production of, The True Nature of All Being, by Lisa Giordano. During 1970, in Minamata a small fishing village in Japan, a fisherman, Teru Moriya is struggling to make ends meet and to care for his family especially his young, severely disabled daughter. The livelihood of all the fishermen in the village is at stake since many people are falling ill, and the suspected culprit is mercury being drained from a nearby chemical plant and polluting the waters. Women in the village have banded together to discover the truth, save their children and spark the global environmental movement.
